Important Dates To Remember

 

 

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER 2016-2017

 

01. Sunday, September 04, 2016: First team declarations for all Tiers, Female A, Atom Development, Recreation, Sport Schools and Guest Teams must be received in OMAHA Central Office.  Declaration is not binding and may be changed up to September 17, 2016.

 02. Saturday, September 10, 2016:   Meetings Village Green Hotel.  Presidents and Head Coaches 1:00 p.m.:  Registrar’s Seminar 1:00 p.m.:  Referee‑in‑Chiefs Seminar 1:00 p.m.:   Female Development Committee 1:00 p.m.  $100.00 fine applies for each meeting of non- attendance.

 03. Sunday, September 11, 2016: Village Green Hotel 10:00 A.M: OMAHA General Meeting.

 04. Sunday, September 18, 2016:  Final team declarations for Tier 1, 2, 3, 4, Female A,   Recreation, Sport Schools, and Guest Teams must be received by OMAHA Central Office on or before 5:00 p.m.  Final Atom Development team declarations are due by September 25, 2016.

 05. September 30: Deadline for paying OMAHA membership dues. (Refer to OMAHA By‑Law 3).    All other accounts are to be paid within 30 days of billing.

 06. September 23 – 25, 2016:  League Scheduling meeting, Village Green Hotel. Times TBD

 07. September 30, 2016:  Carded League play begins. All team players and officials must be electronically registered on the HCR program with BC Hockey & Rosters to OMAHA Registrar before league participation. All Team Officials participating in OMAHA administered leagues shall be Respect in Sport certified, and Coaches and Safety People correctly qualified/certified prior to OMAHA League participation.

 08. October 01, 2016: Atom Development Scheduling meeting.  Winfield Municipal Hall starting at 10 AM

 09. October 01 - 02, 2016:  South Central Super League scheduling meeting.  Kelowna Minor Hockey Office, 1420 Ellis Street at 4:30 pm on October 01, 2016.  All recreation leagues to start play October 07, 2016.

 10. October 16, 2016:  Fee of $50.00 shall be assessed for Carded Game Changes (if both parties agree).

 11. October 23, 2016:  Fee of $25.00 shall be assessed for Recreation/Atom Dev. League Game Changes.

 12. November 25: OMAHA Playoff Declarations must be received by OMAHA Central Office.

 13. December 01: Final date for Minor Hockey Tiers 1- 4 Teams to declare their intent to compete in a higher category in the BC Hockey Championships.  All Carded teams must have a qualified/certified coach & qualified safety person and both shall be Respect in Sport qualified to be eligible for BC Hockey Championships. (See #6 OMAHA participation).

 14. December 01:  Final date to make application for overage players for Bantam and below.

 15. December 15: Final date to register a minimum of one affiliate in order to create an affiliation list. (Hockey Canada Reg. E)

 16. December 16, 2016: Christmas break. Return to school January 02, 2017.

 17. December 31, 2016: Final date for HC carded teams to withdraw from OMAHA/BC Hockey Playoffs.

 18. January 7 & 8, 2017:  Under 14 and Under 16 Female.

 19. January 10: Final date for Residential Waiver applications at tiered level

 20. January 10, 2017:  Any player released after January 10th will be ineligible to be rostered to any hockey team for the balance of the season (Refer to HC Reg. H)

 21. January 14 - 15, 2017: OMAHA Semi-Annual meeting. Village Green Hotel.  Time TBD.   $100.00 fine applies for non-attendance for each meeting.

 22. January 15, 2017:  Final date to file additions to the affiliate list.

 23. January 16 - 20, 2017:  Hockey Canada Week

 24. January 29, 2017: All OMAHA Tier 1, 2, 3, 4 and Female A league games must be completed (Dates subject to change).

 25. Feb. 03, 04, 05, 2017: OMAHA Carded Playoffs begin (Dates subject to change). 

 26. Feb. 05, 2017:  All Recreation Leagues must be completed.

 27. Feb. 10, 11, 12, 2017:  Recreation Playoffs Commence

 28. February 10, 2017: Final date for a player to register on a HC Players Certificate. (HC Reg. F).  Final date to register a player with BC Hockey.

 29. Mar. 05, 2017:   Atom Development League leagues must be completed

 30. March 08, 2017:  All OMAHA Carded Playoff Winners must be declared.

 31. Mar. 10, 11, 12, 2017:  Atom Development Championships  -  Location TBD

 32. March 15: Deadline for nominations for BC Hockey Referee School OMAHA sponsorship.  Deadline for submissions of resolutions for OMAHA AGM.  Deadline for District Association of the Year Applications (OMAHA By-Law 16), Deadline for Margie Moss and Jack Koteles Awards.

 33. March 17, 18, 19, 2017, 2017 OMAHA District Championship for Recreation  -  Location TBD

 34. March 19-24, 2017:  BC Hockey Provincial Playoffs, Peewee, Bantam, Midget, Tiers 1, 2, 3, 4 and Female A. March 18 to be travel day. (Dates subject to change)

 35. April 30: Deadline for applications for OMAHA Scholarships (See OMAHA By‑Law 16).

 36. Saturday, May 27, 2017 1:00 P.M.:  65th OMAHA Annual General Meeting  $100.00 fine applies

 37. Sunday, May 28, 2017: 10:00 A.M.: 65th OMAHA Annual General Meeting. $100.00 fine applies.

 38. June 09 – 11, 2017   98th  BC Hockey AGM -  Sun Peaks

 39. Saturday, September 09, 2017: Location and Time TBD. Meetings for Registrars, Referees‑in‑Chief, Female, Presidents, Head Coaches. $100.00 fine applies. sunday, September 10, 2017, Location and Time TBD - 10:00 AM: OMAHA General Meeting.  $100.00 fine applies.

 

OMAHA fosters, improves and encourages amateur hockey, sportsmanship and good citizenship in the Okanagan Mainline District in the Province of British Columbia. It assists with the formation of leagues and organizes league competition within the Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association District.

OMAHA establishes, maintains and assists in the general care, supervision and direction of all minor associations and leagues who are members of this Association; and assists all others interested in amateur hockey. We provide guidance and formulate an effective hockey program. OMAHA maintains a uniform set of playing rules as laid down by the Canadian Hockey Association, and amendments covered by the British Columbia Amateur Hockey Association, or covered by the Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association.

OMAHA publishes their Constitution, By-Laws and Regulations (pdf) ("Green Book") each year. This book contains information on the OMAHA constitution, by-laws, and regulations along with other information on the various member associations.
